Public Consultation on Proposed Wellbeing Resort in TraffordCity

Members of the public are invited to attend a consultation on a proposed unique wellbeing resort in TraffordCity. Therme Manchester will bring together the tradition of the ancient Roman spa with an indoor tropical paradise. Therme resorts are some of the largest attractions in the world, built and operating at the highest level of quality and sustainability. The concept has been running in Europe for over 20 years, making a long-lasting positive impact on communities. The investment will be over £175 million.

Therme Manchester will occupy a 28-acre site on Barton Dock Road between Phoenix Way, Mercury Way and the Bridgewater Canal.

Nature and water are at the heart of Therme creating a true oasis in the city, with everything from exciting wave pools and waterslides to relaxing luxury spa experiences.

Therme is accessible to all ages, bringing affordable luxury with both adult and family areas to ensure everyone can experience a perfect day of wellbeing. Therme Manchester is part of Therme Group, a global organisation that utilises state of the art technology to create the world's most advanced wellbeing resorts.

The consultation will take place in the Hall 1 Foyer at EventCity on 25 and 26 July at the following times:

Thursday 25 July 14:00 - 20:00

Friday 26 July 12:00 - 16:00

Stelian Iacob, CEO of Therme Group UK said: “Therme combines sustainable technology with nature and culture to benefit communities around the world. Manchester has always been a forward-thinking city, and we are excited about the possibility of Therme Manchester bringing wellbeing and affordable luxury to the heart of the community, shaping a city of the future.”

The consultation includes the redevelopment of the current location of EventCity on Barton Dock Road into Therme Manchester, as part of a tripartite plan with Peel L&P. The plan consists of a transformation of the building currently home to Soccerdome, into a new EventCity with car parking as well as the creation of a new eight pitch football facility adjacent to it.

James Whittaker, Peel L&P Group Development Director said: “Bringing Therme Manchester to TraffordCity is a once in a generation opportunity and these plans will deliver a world class wellbeing resort to the north of England, create a state-of-the-art events and conference facility as well as provide a permanent football facility for the local community.”

Comments on Therme Manchester can be submitted at the public consultation or by visiting www.thermemanchester.co.uk between Thursday 25 July and Sunday 04 August.
